New Country 100.7 is dedicated to amplifying women’s voices in our community year round but March 8th is a special day. It’s International Women’s Day and we’re proud to be a part of it. Be sure to listen from now until the big day to hear from some of the most amazing women in the Okanagan !
The mothers, daughters, sisters and best friends of our community deserve to be empowered and you can help by supporting our local Elizabeth Fry Society and The Kelowna Women’s Shelter.
The Central Okanagan Elizabeth Fry Society is an open network of activists, advocates and volunteers working together to bring about social change for women & children. Their mission is to bring about an end to violence, eliminate poverty and seek justice for women & children here in our community.
Programs and services they offer include, Specialized Victim Assistance, Youth Prevention Programs, Sexual Assault Counseling, Outreach programs for women at risk of domestic or sexual violence and so much more.

Since 1980, Kelowna Women’s Shelter has offered a safe place to stay, and essentials such as food, clothing, and toiletries for women who have to flee home quickly and don’t have time to prepare.
They offer ongoing counselling, support and preventive education programs, Emergency Transitional Housing and Outreach support for victims of domestic abuse, all at no cost. They also have counsellors available 24-hours-a day.
